Dates and Details of BMET Training in Rwanda
Over the course of the next 3 years, there will be six modular eight-week training sessions held in Kigali, Rwanda at the Kigali Health Institute according to the schedule below:

In addition to offering training on troubleshooting, repairing, and preventative maintenance of the medical equipment listed in the table above, EWH will also offer instruction in English, Mathematics, Electronics, Basic Technician Assistant (BTA) skills, and Professional Development. At the end of each session a certificate will be awarded. More information on the program can be found on our website at: www.ewh.org/bmet.
It is expected that students who enroll in this training program be present each day for class, which runs Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30. Most Fridays will consist of an exam in the morning, followed by a visit to a local hospital to get practical experience repairing real equipment in hospitals throughout Rwanda. It is also expected that students will attend all 6 training sessions and get written documentation of consent from their hospital director to participate in this program.

Please note that the $1,858 cost itemized above does not include transportation to and from Kigali to the student's home location. It also does not include the cost of a laptop (approximately $400) or tool kit (approximately $200). There is limited scholarship funding available for those applicants who demonstrate need and have the requisite professional and educational experiences. Applicants will be notified of acceptance before March 4. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible to help facilitate the scholarship decision making process early.
EWH's next wave of training is scheduled to begin in March of 2012. Applications will be due no later than February 6th, 2012.
