In order to apply for the summer program, or any special programs (one-year, MS or family), you must follow these steps. You can stop the process at any time and return to work on that step. Your application will not be processed until you have completed all the steps.

Preparing your application


  1. Download the application packet. The application packet includes the application for the summer program (which is the same as the application for all Special Programs), the recommendation form, the optional application for financial aid and additional information.
  2. Unzip the application packet and rename the application files with your first and last name.
  3. Complete the application form, and if you wish, the financial aid application form. Your essays will be complete in the command panel, even if they are cutoff in the Excel matrix.
  4. Scan in your transcripts. Use 200 dpi to reduce the resulting file size. If you are submitting a financial aid application scan the required accessory documents. Select someone to write a recommendation for you. Have them fill out the recommendation form and submit it either electronically (send to michelle.garst@duke.edu) or by snail mail (send to Duke-EWH, 136 Hudson Hall Box 90281, Durham, NC 27708). The recommendation letter must be received by January 30, 2009.
  5. Spend as much time as you like preparing your application materials. You can return to submit your application at any time. Please submit all application materials at the same time. Once you submit your application materials, you cannot modify them.

Carefully check that you have selected the correct files! Once you click on submit, you will not be able to modify your application. After submitting your application, you will be taken to a page where you can pay your $45 application fee. Without your application fee, your application is incomplete and will not be processed.
